My 18 yr old and our grandson Chad

On Nov 7, 2008 I had the priviledge of seeing my grandson being born. What an awesome moment!! I was one of the greatest moments of my life next to my own children’s birth. Chad Michael Mooney was born around 11 pm to my oldest son, Derek. Chad was LONG overdue and his mom, Joey, was sure ready for him to come.

Then it was discovered he had been born with pneumonia. Praise the Lord I had got to hold him for a few minutes after his birth as after that no one could hold him. Grandpa only got to look:( Erin, who is 8 and my youngest, never even got to see him. We had to leave the following Saturday and haven’t been to visit since then.

Our van broke down ad Christmas when we were supposed to go see Chad and pick up our 18-yr-old, Caitlin, who stayed behind to help with the new baby. So here we sit – no baby hugging going on! Caitlin sent us this adorable picture and I though I would share it with you all. Chad will be 2 months old on January 7 and already he is soo bright and alert.

Thanks everyone who prayed for him when he was born. The Lord honored those prayers and he is healthy and happy.

  1. So cute…I also had the honors of seeing my granddaughter being born!! What a miraculas (sp) site!! I never saw any of mine born as they were all 3 c-section!! It was AWESOME!!! cute baby!!looks very alert!!

    He is so beautiful. I had my first grandson on 12/09/06. I was there for his birth and was honored to name him. He now lives with me and is the light of my life. My youngest is 11 and he loves him auntie. I hope you have many happy times with him and even at 2 my Dominic gives the best hugs and loves. Enjoy……….Lori

  6. Hey Belinda,

    Yes, being there for the first or tenth grandbaby is an awesome experience. I’ve been with 3 of our 12 grandchildren. Yes, they are all beautiful!

    And I think Chad is adorable. Pictures don’t always show it all, so I know he’s even more so in person. His personality has to be awesome.

  8. Thanks everyone! I know we can be prejudiced LOL but I think he is definitely in the cutest baby category:) He is VERY alert! He looks older than his 2 months, of course weighing over 12 lbs can do that LOL.

    I can’t wait to see him this month.

  9. Congratulations!
    I had the privilege of seeing my first Grandbaby born on Oct.15 so I can relate. I was the only one who got to go up for the big event and my daughter was really wanting everyone to see him on Thanksgiving. I had 3 with strep throat and a 3yo also a double inner ear infection that just dripped. We only got a few minutes visit but made up for it for Christmas. Yes, Grandbabies are FUN!

    Yes yu do know cute babies! And he one of the cutest!!! So glad he is over the Pnemunia and is doing so well! Hope Caitlyn is home soon and you get to see Derek and the baby! I know its got to be killing you not being able to be there with them for the Holidays. Maybe soon…hopefully really soon you will be able to hold that lil bundle of joy in your arms again! :
